First places in the 31st Valencia Divina Pastora Marathon were claimed by the Kenyan Isaiah Kiplagat Kosgei (2.07:59) and Ethiopian Jimma Abo (2.43:23). The event saw a large number of personal records broken, to the extent that all the athletes on the podium, both men's a women's broke their individual records for the competition.
Kosgei has placed Valencia among the top 20 fastest circuits in the world and 2nd in Spain where the fastest time of 2.07:30 was achieved in Barcelona. The amazing setting that the City of Arts and Sciences provided to the race finish line has given the event considerable renown.
David Njagi, the winner of last year's 30th edition marathon did well until reaching the 34th kilometre where he lost his pace and the defense of his title, although he finished in an honourable seventh place with a time of 2.11:53.
