THE AREA SURROUNDING THE ALCALÁ DOWNTOWN 1 APARTMENT.
The Alcalá apartments are located in Madrid's historic centre on the Calle de Conde de Aranda in the neighbourhood of Recoletos which forms part of the Salamanca district, one of Madrid's, if not Europe's, most prestigious districts. The fabulous location beside the iconic Puerta de Alcalá and Retiro Park means that many of the most visited sites in Madrid are within walking distance, as are a huge number of places to eat and drink, shopping areas, and also easy communication by public transport wherever you need to get to in Madrid.
The Salamanca district owes its name to the Marquess of Salamanca who initiated its construction in the 19th Century. It has become one of the most important commercial zones of the city and one of the districts with the highest quality of life in Europe, boasting the largest luxury shopping zone in Madrid around the streets of Serrano, Claudio, Coello, and Ortega y Gasset. Of note are the neighbourhood's stately facades that make Madrid one of Europe's greatest capitals in terms of classical and avant-garde architecture.
Some of the important sites that are within walking distance from your Alcalá apartment are: the Puerta de Alcalá (two minutes' walk), the Prado museum (twelve minutes' walk), Puerta del Sol (twenty minutes' walk), Reina Sofía Museum (twenty five minutes' walk) the Royal Palace and Almudena Cathedral (twenty five minutes' walk), and many more besides.
Should shopping be on your agenda you will of course find the above mentioned concentration of luxury shops in the immediate vicinity of the apartment, but you can also easily get to the other popular shopping areas of Calle Preciados and Calle Fuencarral both of which lie at approximately twenty minutes' walk away.
To get away from the hustle and bustle of the capital or to take a break from sightseeing, look no further than the famous and expansive Retiro Park which lies just a three minute walk from your Alcalá apartment and where you can indulge in relaxing strolls in the shade of the tall trees and take in the views of impressive gardens.
For going out to eat and drink your very own neighbourhood offers you a great variety and number of restaurants and bars in the streets surrounding your apartment.
